Do You Need A Home Appraisal?

Yes.  Most credible financial institutions out there will not let you borrow money to purchase a home without an appraisal.  This protects the banks or lending institutions from loaning you more than the home is actually worth.  Most of the time, it is the Seller’s responsibility to obtain a home appraisal. It will usually take a couple of weeks to get the home appraisal completed once it is ordered.

Is a home appraisal the same as a home inspection?

No! A home appraisal is very different than a home inspection. A home inspector is there to find problems with the house that could bring financial headaches in the future.  The home appraiser is there just to determine the value of the home.
